He reports to Santa but if the boys have been good Santa lets them have a small present each early. I buy them each new ornaments every year and Elvin delivers them.
We just started with it last year but I think I am going to keep him around even into the teenage years & since he brings an early present to the boys I suspect they may go along with me.
Oh, is that the Elf on a Shelf?? I wish I had done this with my kids!
