My erratic connection early last week kept me off and showed me just how irritated I was with the incessant political tweets . It was nice not to have them. I don't want to unfollow anyone because it's just that time of year when politics is the dominant topic. I understand that. I just find the snide comments, the links to negative stories, the misinformation, the gloating over the problems of others and the all around spite I'm seeing on both side to suck the enjoyment right out of my Twitter experience. It's just gotten so mean that I don't want to deal with it. The sheer lack of common decency is shocking & the excuse is "well, they did it first" which doesn't fly when my 5 year old says it & is even less convincing when a 35 year old says it.
It'll all be over in a couple of days hopefully & I'll get back on twitter. I miss the chatting.
Go vote tomorrow! Remember, you are not required to fill in every blank on the ballot. If you are not happy with your Presidential candidates you can skip that question. There are other equally important offices & propositions on your ballot. Don't miss your chance to enact law and elect lawmakers because you are unhappy with the executive branch options

Sigh. I just don't get twitter. I have an account there and I tried to tweet for awhile, but I think I'm missing the pull of it. Maybe it's better to tweet when you're in the car or on the road or somewhere other than home? Because then you're actually doing something that you can tweet about? Tweeting from my home computer just doesn't do it for me - I have nothing interesting to say!
I can't wait to vote tomorrow!
I know what you mean and I don't even live in the States! Politics sure does bring out the nasties.
I agree. This sure is one important election for America but it brings out so much negativity in the media AND in other people.
I'll be so glad when it's over too!
I really enjoy Twitter, but will be so happy when all the election stuff you mention ends - UGH! Once those nasty posts end we can get back to the fun of connecting with others.
I totally agree with you on the nastiness.
I've even seen it in my own immediate family, with another grown up family member going after my 11 year old for having an opinion on the presidential candidates. What decent minded grown up makes a kid cry over having an opinion?
One woman told me that she hopes Palin's kids die on election day. I don't care who you are voting for....Who says stuff like this? People are acting shameful.
I have a hard time with Twitter. I just can't keep up with all of the tweets and conversations. I find that I'll put up a tweet every so often but that's about it.
I will be so glad when the election is over - no matter the outcome. And you are so right that there are many other important things being decided, on all levels of government. Thanks for the reminder - I'm not even sure what all is on the ballot. I guess it's time for some quick research.
Even I'M tired of all the politics, and I'm in Canada! I tried Twittering once and didn't get it so I deleted my account. LOL
are you linked into Girls Night Out on twitter? it's TONS of fun... but tomorrow is one you'd be happy to miss. our topic is the election.
regardless of political leaning, i like good manners, you know?
Well said! Thank GOODNESS it is almost over!
I've never really "gotten" the whole twitter thing! But I totally understand being tired of all the comments and debates over this election! I, too, will be glad it's over and we can all get back to light-hearted subjects once again!
Americans take politics a lot more personally than Canadians, I find. At least it's not as touchy for us to talk about it openly. I was with a group of Americans and a silent hush and some agitated looks filled the room when I cheerfully said, "So you're all votin' Obama, right?"
Wow. Canadians are more open about this stuff and things don't get super heated around politics. At least not in the circles I run in.
I'm excited to see the outcome of your election. You guys need a change, that's for certain.
I totally agree! I love Twitter. It sort of pains me to be at work all day and not on Twitter.
But I also understand why you've signed off for now, and I can see why you would. See you in a couple of days! :)
I love twitter...but am in agreement about the political tweets. Also don't want to unfollow anyone, etc. Try to skip over all those and read the rest--at certain times of the day that works--usually am just popping on for a couple minutes. Wish people could disagree/debate and be nice about it.
Definitely will make it to the polls tomorrow.
I will be SO happy when this election is final. I don't think I can stomach another bullcrap ad, misleading email and all that other junk.
I'm drained and ready to move on to other stuff. I'm not sure I even know who won the World Series this year!
Hi there, so glad to "meet" you! Even if it was forced by Deb and Jay!
Ha!
Good luck with the contest!
I'm totally with you..which is why I chose the GNO topic tomorrow night centered AROUND election returns...I want to chat about it. But I want it to be NICE and GENUINE. I have real thoughts about this whole campaign and about America. And I don't want to spend the night talking about how stupid one or the other is!
I don't get Twitter too ;( I have several followers but don't really understand what's the essence of it.
Today is the big day in US Politics - can't wait to hear the results.
I have an award for you at my blog :)

I don't twitter but I love your voting advice!
I couldn't agree more! Next!
(BTW, lol @ Andrea's comment)
Most of the people I follow are US based so I've been reading ALOT of political tweets. Personally I think it will be good when your election is over :)
I'm very new to Twitter, still figuring it out, will give it a little more time. I think the best advice I've gotten so far on social networking is that it is all about the relationships.
