oh hai!

Look what was on our front porch this morning

It’s like deja vu. Only we were expecting the litter back in March. We had known Tux was pregnant because she was so visibly waddling there at the end. These kittens are a couple weeks old. We hadno idea she was pregnant, when she gave birth,  where she gave birth or where she has been keeping them since then. They were just there, on the porch, at 7am

Two are the color of Smoke and one is Thor colored so I’m guessing Tux and the daddy cat have a regular booty call going on. We tried a few times before to catch Tux & get  her fixed but while she normally comes right up to us and will even let us pet her when we feed her; she seems to sense we are going to pick her up and put her in a carrier and she vanishes for 48 hours around the scheduled appointment. The county does monthly or so discount pet clinics where they spay or neuter your pet and give them a rabies and feline leuk shot, all for about $50. The vet wants almost $200 so we can’t just grab her & then make an appointment.

Tux is a stray who came to stay a couple years ago while pregnant. Her surviving kitten is Ghost, our barn cat. Then for a year there were no kittens. We tried a couple times to catch her & spay her. Then she gave birth back in March. We kept Thor & Smoke and sent the rest to our shelter, where kittens have a high likelihood of adoption, when we couldn’t find any homes ourselves. We tried again to catch her and Ghost as well. No luck

I suppose I’ll try to find homes for these 3 and we’ll just have to start trying to trap Tux a few days before the clinic, though what we’ll do with her while waiting I don’t know.
